DIY stands for Do It Yourself - in this sense, anyone interested can listen to exciting performances and get active themselves in workshops or at the DIY Synth/ Eurorack Meetup. Let multi-instrumentalist Louretta and Dr. Schmitt personally show you how to produce creative video visuals. Visit the virtual soundwalk through Jens Rosenfeld's interactive sound installation "Sonic Explorations" or let Lukas Hermann introduce you to Eurorack modules and the Eurorack Ruhr network.
During the performances you can expect downbeat live coding, noise electronics, sound tracks, glitch art, contemporary dance and visuals.
Artist introduction:
Flor de Fuego is a primarily digital artist who uses programming and live coding to create performative experiences. Her research encompasses concepts such as body, space, code and cosmos/chaos.
Shunsuke Oshio composes experimental sound tracks for theater, film, dance and art projects. He comes from Osaka, Japan and has been musically active in Düsseldorf since 2009, both solo and in various bands. After his band project AI, he played guitar in the electronic duo WÖRC and has already released 2 solo albums since 2020.
Pondskater's electronic soundscape balances between dancefloor and experimentation. Since 2019, his IDM-influenced downbeat has been created using live coding, a technique that focuses on writing source code and interactive programming.
Circuitnoise explores the broad field of random noise caused by electronic devices. Mathematical and physical coincidences and the decision-making behavior of complex systems influence the generation of sound. Musically, the project moves between noise, sound art and live electronics.
Half man half synthesizer, Moogulator is an active performer exploring the boundaries of
electronic instruments. Also as a producer of various music that is always "very
electronic", however, always human and organic, but primarily with "inhuman"
means can be generated. Moogulator must and wants to be electronic, because this is the only way to achieve the goal.
Because the goal is the goal. Not the path.
Circuitnoise aka Jens Rosenfeld will be there. He uses noise as an essential element of sound design to create unique textures and soundscapes. Pondskaters takes you into electronic soundscapes that balance between dancefloor and experimentation. Since 2019, his IDM-influenced downbeat has been created using live coding, a technique that focuses on writing source code and interactive programming.
Workshops:
DIY-Analog-Video-Visuals
with Loretta
In this workshop, participants will immerse themselves in the world of analog video visuals. We will show you how to create really creative moving images - all in old-school style. In this workshop, you'll grab your cameras and become the director of your own video clip. Forget the digital frippery, this is all about classic vibes!
You should bring your own camera (e.g.: cell phone, DSLR camera - if possible with selfie stick or mini tripod) and a laptop. Knowledge of video editing is not necessary, but helpful.
SPECIAL*** Prototype showing : "Sonic Explorations"
We are delighted to present Jens Rosenfeld's interactive sound installation at the DIY Synth Festival: "Sonic Explorations". With the help of a specially developed app, visitors can take a virtual sound walk in the WELTKUNSTZIMMER. By cleverly linking space and sound, guests can go on a sonic journey of discovery using a smartphone and headphones. "Sonic Explorations" is a remarkable example of the creative use of modern technology in the art world. This installation combines art, sound and interactivity in a way that stimulates the senses and challenges the mind. Visit us at the DIY Synth Festival. We cordially invite you to experience Jens Rosenfeld's "Sonic Explorations" at the DIY Synth Festival. Immerse yourself in a world where sounds transcend the boundaries of reality and art becomes an immersive experience.
With the kind support of the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf.
In cooperation with: sequencer.de and Eurorack Ruhr.
