Villa Panaderia. A table that gets longer and longer, a cloth that is woven, embroidered and printed. In addition, plates, cups, glasses, a makeshift kitchen - that is the meagre basic equipment of a camp that is set up over the summer on the site of an old baking factory in the industrial area on the outskirts of Düsseldorf.
Under the auspicious title Villa Panaderia, 13 artists from Argentina are running a villeggiatura of their very own kind here for the first time.
Lack is the challenge out of which art can happen. The artists from Buenos Aires, all great improvisers anyway, come together here to invite everyone to help build, enrich or simply be guests at the 1st campamento de verano.
With a headstand, the perspective on the world changes. While usual exhibitions are about empty white rooms and art hanging on the wall all around, we turn things upside down. The very first day marks the beginning of the "exhibition", which is an improvised event around the long table that results from the actions and contributions of all contributors and interactors .
A table (which gets longer the longer the action lasts) and transforms according to need and situation, is at the centre of the action from the very beginning as a table, working platform, sewing table or stage. The main attraction of Villa Panaderia will definitely be conversation, the everlasting search for understanding, the conversation across all tables and benches, language or other barriers.
Villa Panaderia (villa - place, spot, settlement; panaderia - bakery) sees itself as an open process. Its artistic strategy is participation. Collaboration, cooperation and interaction are explicitly desired and a central part of the concept.

How to become part of Villa Panaderia?
Come by and talk to us or help specifically:
Â
The artists Chiachio & Giannone are engaged in the art of embroidery in all its traditional techniques and artistic manifestations. They want to continue this work in the Villa Panaderia and are looking for old embroidered tablecloths, cloths, napkins, yarn and embroidery silk.
Leo Chiachio and Dani Giannone are asking for donations of materials and are also looking for staff and volunteers who would like to practice the large-scale embroidery work with them.
Â
If you are interested in cooperation, please send an e-mail to cfs@eiskellerberg.de.
Â
The Weltkunstzimmer makes its grounds and buildings with infrastructure available to Villa Panaderia. All artists live and work on the premises of the old baking factory.
