The two residents Sonia Soney and Ainesh Madan of the BangaloREsidency-Expanded programme show the pieces they have created: Sonia Soney "Purpose" and Ainesh Madan "The Second Dance Song (Part 3)". The two Indian performers and choreographers were invited to Düsseldorf for two months as part of the WELTKUNSTZIMMER residency, together with the Ben J. Riepe Company and FREIRAUM, in order to network with the dance scene in NRW and to develop their pieces.
Â
Afterwards, the two artists Paula Pedraza and David Hahlbrock, who have received this year's WELT-KUNST-ZIMMER scholarship, will present the interim status of their work and report on their concepts. The two artists are being funded to spend two months intensively exploring the task of art in the interaction between the inner world and the outer world and the opening up of spaces that this requires. The aim of the funding is to create a safe space that enables the artists to realise a project of the heart freely and with individual support.
Â
The event will be hybrid and in English. The 2G-plus rule applies on site and masks are compulsory throughout. The live stream of the two performances will be available on Youtube, and you can participate in the subsequent talks via Zoom. All links and access can be found >>>here.

Performances & Talk
Sonia Soney © Kirthi Kumar Barik
At the end of the WELTKUNSTZIMMER residency, Sonia Soney presents her choreography and performance PURPOSE, which deals with questioning stereotypes and toxic-patriarchal standards. Who decides what is beautiful or ugly and why? Her work tries to bundle the voices and realities of numerous women and through the medium of performance to create an awareness of more equality within the sexes.

As the conclusion of the WELTKUNSTZIMMER residency, Ainesh Madan presents his choreography and performance The Second Dance Song (part 3) in collaboration with Abhaydev Praful (music) and Joshua Sailo (illustration / animation). Part 3 of The Second Dance Song, also called Zarathustra’s roundelay, is a poem that breaks out from the prose structure and is defined by immediacy and vitality. The dance work attempts to embody the essence of the poem, and motivate the audience to engage with Nietzsche's writing.

An exhibition format is developing that enables visitors to experience the forest in an abstracted way through installations and objects in a broad, medial spectrum.
Paula Pedraza © Kurt Heuvens
As part of the WELT-KUNST-ZIMMER grant, Paula Pedraza is developing a presentation with a show room for a live art role play game with a focus on caring and automation. She gives insights into various artworks and the ongoing gaming process with a focus on palliative care.
In collaboration with Goethe-Institut Bangalore / Max Mueller Bhavan, Ben J. Riepe Kompanie and FREIRAUM. With the kind support of the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf.
