Die Veranstaltung findet am Abend bei Einbruch der Dämmerung an verschiedenen Orten in Düsseldorf statt. Ausgewählt durch das Publikum wird der „Urban Space Filmpreis“ verliehen. Der erste Platz ist mit 1000 Euro dotiert, der zweite Platz mit 400 Euro und der dritte Platz mit 250 Euro.
The film screenings are free of charge and open to all (including random) visitors. An introduction to the respective short film can be given in advance.
Limited accommodation is available for travelling filmmakers and artists in our guest rooms on the premises. The “Urban Space Film Award” will be presented at the end of the event in a convivial atmosphere.
Conditions
The entries submitted should make a recognisable reference to the topic; selected works will qualify for a screening on the film walk.
Einsendungen sind als DVD per Post oder als Dateidownload im Format .mp4 oder .mov per Mail bis einschließlich 20. Juli 2026 möglich.
The maximum running time of the film contribution must not exceed 25 minutes and not be less than 3 minutes.
We ask the previous year’s winners to refrain from applying.

Filmemacher*innen, Videokünstler*innen und Freund*innen des bewegten Bildes sind herzlich eingeladen, Kurzfilme zum Thema „Nightshift“ für den 9. Urban Space Video Walk einzureichen.
Der diesjährige Urban Space Video Walk erforscht unter dem Thema „Nightshift“ Perspektiven auf die Nacht als urbanen, sozialen, ökologischen und sinnlichen Raum. Gesucht werden filmische Arbeiten, die sich mit nächtlichen Atmosphären und Übergängen zwischen Schlafen und Wachsein, Erschöpfung und Euphorie, Schutz und Angst, Kontrolle und Kontrollverlust auseinandersetzen.
At night, perceptions, bodies and relationships change. Clubs, bars, streets, stations and petrol stations become temporary spaces of resonance – shaped by sound, light, movement and encounters. Bass, voices, machines, sirens, silence and the continuous hum of the city structure the night just as much as shift work, sleep patterns and urban infrastructure. Darkness can be a sanctuary, a place of retreat and transformation – just as it can be a space of fear, a zone of uncertainty or a place of solitude and control.
At the same time, the city at night does not belong to humans alone. Foxes on empty streets, trees in neon light, rodents in underground tunnels, insects on neon signs or bats between concrete facades appear as dusk falls.
Between visibility and invisibility, new networks of relationships, coexistences and perceptions emerge.
We are looking for documentary, fictional, experimental and hybrid short films that explore urban nights as a tapestry of bodies, atmospheres, sounds and communities – and that expand, shift or rethink existing perspectives.
