Weltkunstzimmer - Labor für Kritik und Weitsicht" (World Art Room - Laboratory for Criticism and Foresight) is a new series of events that focuses on the foreground and background of artistic projects. In recent years, artists and cultural practitioners have developed a wide variety of strategies that unfold away from the art market, media and institutions and call for new forms of reception. Moreover, artists and curators are increasingly reacting to the strong social changes that have been negotiated for years under the catchwords "capitalism, crisis, consumption and control".Â
What positions do artists take? And how can these be communicated? What is the position of art critics?
In addition to a focus on media and interdisciplinary issues, the exhibition will primarily present works and projects that are based on long-term research and dare to experiment and take risks outside of the targeted exhibition format.
The events take place monthly, on Wednesdays, at 7 pm in the guest room of the Weltkunstzimmer. take place.

Sabria David in conversation with Sabine Maria Schmidt
Sabria David is a trained Germanist and linguist and works as a media researcher. She is co-founder and director of the Slow Media Institute (based in Bonn), which researches and advises on the effects and potentials of the digital transformation on society, work and media. Together with the sociologist Benedikt Köhler and the market researcher Jörg Blumtritt, she wrote the Slow Media Manifesto in 2010, which has been translated into numerous languages and has received international reactions.
In doing so, the authors plead for new active, sustainable and self-determined cultural techniques in dealing with digital media.
Why a manifesto? What are the theoretical debates? What strategies, competences and opportunities can be developed to counter the serious technological developments of the last fifteen years? And what role does the concept of the "responsible individual" still play here?
From consumer to prosumer, sharing is caring, collaboration and self-exploitation, "ego or we are many", swarm intelligence and liquefaction. In addition to the presentation of the "Slow Media Manifesto", the talk will also critically question concepts and terminologies in the current media discussion.
