“Freedom explained logically” brings together 32 young artists and 8 curators from Belgium and Germany. This intensive one-year project between the Sint Lucas School of Arts Antwerp, the Kunstakademie and the Heinrich Heine University, both from Düsseldorf, resulted in two exhibitions. One in Düsseldorf at the Weltkunstzimmer and the other at the Sint Laurentiussite in Antwerp. Both exhibitions contextualize the process of exhibition design and take up cooperation as a common denominator.
One of the aims of this exchange was to encourage international collaboration and networking among young artists and curators at the beginning of their careers. As part of their studies, they developed an exhibition project from A to Z. For most of them, it is their very first exhibition experience in an international context. They are confronted with their own work in the field of professional art and the practical side of their future profession.
Without the great support of Viktoria Hellfeier, Wolfgang Schäfer and Alfred Derde, this project would hardly have been possible. We would also like to thank Eric Desombere for designing the publication. Last but not least, we would like to thank all the students for their work and energy in realizing this project.
