Yukio Suzuki, born 1972, is a performer, producer and choreographer. He began with Butoh dance at Asbestos Studio and worked as a dancer with Ko Murobushi and Goro Namerikawa, a founding member of Sankaijuki, among others. In 2000 he founded his own company, the Kingyo group, which mixes contemporary dance with influences from Butoh and modern theatre. As a choreographer, Yukio Suzuki also works for other companies, such as Tokyo City Ballet. He won the Grand Prix at the Toyota Choreography Award with his work "Confronting Silence".
Yukio Suzuki seeks and explores new ways of using the human body in dance. Through unusual forms of expression, Yukio Suzuki brings out the dancers' personalities in order to enhance them to the maximum. In this way, a new form of communication can be experienced. He teaches his technique not only to dancers, but also in workshops to children and people with physical disabilities, who get to know each other in a new way through dance and learn to communicate with each other differently. Body language thus becomes the basis of human relationships.

In the workshop "Re-construction of your body", participants become aware of their bodies and learn to behave contrary to their usual ways of moving and thinking. Through this, the texture of the body changes like a detached thing. This thing invites us to play with it in a new and different way.
