8th Urban Space Video Walk
„Zwischenräume“ – „interspaces“
A cinematic night walk through the city.
Meeting point: Weltkunstzimmer, Innenhof
Participation is free of charge and possible without registration.
This year's Urban Space Video Walk explores the theme of in-between space.
With short films by Ada Kopaz & Kathrin Dröppelmann, Farah Wind & Stefan Koutzev, Frances Rebollido, Paul Wiersbinski and Todor Joe Musev
Interstitial spaces in urban areas have become rare. Most architecture is assigned a clear function, empty spaces, wasteland and open spaces are becoming fewer and fewer. And yet they still exist, the spaces in between. The smallest families of mosses and lichens are reclaiming their space between the asphalt. An unplanned dandelion makes its way through the sealed surfaces. Temporary habitats for rodents, birds and insects emerge on fenced-in construction sites of postponed building projects. They are unexpected, unplanned and generate a high degree of diversity on their own initiative. Similar to the urban, in-between spaces in relation to the individual and society are constantly negotiated, liberated, attacked and new boundaries are drawn, defended and dissolved again.
Spaces in between emerge and disappear, are appropriated, displaced and re-conquered elsewhere. In the end, the question often arises: What remains?
The cinematic night walk ends with the presentation of the Urban Space Film Award.
Curated by Janine Blöß.
Project Team – Yannick Böhm, Martha Martens, Nora Faust.
