In close cooperation with the Düsseldorf label “Slowboy Records/ Galerie Slowboy”, the WELTKUNSTZIMMER presents new graphic works by the New York artist Mark McCoy in combination with a record produced especially for the exhibition and a series of screen prints. 
In dialog with Mark McCoy's works, the exhibition shows other drawing positions, including the Düsseldorf and Basel-based artist Thomas Ruch, the Berlin artist Veronika Schumacher and joint works by the Havekost class at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. 

New York artist Mark McCoy works at the interface of art and music. Trained at the School of Visual Arts, in addition to his artistic work he also performs as a singer and guitarist in various punk, rock and black metal bands, runs a label, designs record covers and booklets and publishes small editions of photo magazines. Mark McCoy's work comprises extremely detailed architectural ink drawings that deal with the ephemerality and changeability of a technically constructed world. Quotations (e.g. from the tarot game), symbols of decay and mortality reflect the ambivalent, unconscious desire not to exist, but also experiences that are reorganized and defined. 

Veronika Schumacher's cosmos of images is permeated by a seemingly inexhaustible repertoire, with which she creates wallpapers and detailed drawings. Her collection of materials includes pop images as well as those from cheap tabloids, comics, and art books. There's no reservation; anything goes. Since 2003, the Berlin-based artist has performed regularly as DJ Vicious V. 

Thomas Ruch's figurative wall work for the exhibition was created on-site at high speed using spray paint. The goal is to consciously test action and reaction. His work explores the tension between the self-expressive tool (a pressure can) and the calculable form and contour of a thinking hand. 

The Havekost class is represented with two works that dispense with thematic guidelines and individual authorship and were condensed over a longer working process into a course of complementary, erasing and revised image inventions.
